NEW DELHI, July 28 (Xinhua) -- China's Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Dr D.N. Kotnis Health and Education Centre located in India's northern state of Punjab, have signed a memorandum of cooperation in a bid to enhance cooperation in education and research in acupuncture, besides other academic and cultural areas.
The memorandum was signed on Saturday between Vice-President of Guizhou Acupuncture and Moxibustion Association Prof. Yang Xiaofang and Medical Superintendent of the Dr D.N. Kotnis Health and Education Centre Dr. Inderjeet Singh Dhingra.
The signing of the memorandum would pave the way for setting up of an acupuncture institution in Ludhiana district of Punjab state where degree courses would be offered to the acupuncture aspirants, Dr. Dhingra told Xinhua via phone on Sunday.
The memorandum was signed on the sidelines of the ongoing International Advanced Workshop-cum-Training of Acupuncture at the Dr D.N. Kotnis Health and Education Centre in Ludhiana.
The first of its kind workshop is being organized with the help of Chinese experts in collaboration with the "World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies, Education (WFAS, Edu)", said WFAS Edu's Overseas Manager Zhou Xiaoxue.
Among the Chinese experts are renowned doctors and inventors of new technology and advancement in acupuncture science. Around 70 acupuncturists from across India attended a special lecture by Prof. Ren Xiaoyan, a famous acupuncture cosmetologist.
On Friday, Dr. Ding Zhaoliang gave a special lecture on curing multiple diseases with special two needles technique. Prof. Yang Shuo, Prof. Yang Xiaofang, Prof. Sau Chu Florence, Dr. Chen Ming, and Zhou Xiaoxue also shared their experiences and research activities with the Indian doctors.
The 10-day training workshop is covering major aspects like neurological disorders, paralysis, facial paralysis, chronic pain syndromes, cosmetic problems, alopecia, nerve weakness, stress management and many new techniques like "catgut embedding therapy". The Chinese doctors are also providing free consultation to patients during the session.
