SHANGHAI, April 23 (Xinhua) -- An investigation is underway involving a Tesla Model S bursting into flames in an underground garage in Shanghai, according to the municipal firefighting bureau.
Security camera footage shows the incident happened at around 8:32 p.m. last Sunday on the first level of the two-level garage in Xuhui District.
The video showed that the white sedan bearing Tesla's logo wasn't charging when it caught fire and the vehicle burst into flames shortly after white smoke emerged from under the car.
The municipal firefighting bureau sent 15 fire trucks to the scene at 8:39 p.m. and had put the fire out by 9:18 p.m.
A total of three cars, a Tesla, an Audi and a Lexus, were damaged at varying degrees, with no casualties reported so far, according to the bureau.
Tesla said on its official Weibo account Monday that they had dispatched an investigation team after the incident and actively cooperated with local departments.
The garage has been cordoned off for security reasons and the three damaged cars will be removed from the garage soon, said the firefighting bureau.
