RIYADH, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Foreign Ministry condemned on Tuesday Qatar's interception of two United Arab Emirates (UAE) civilian planes, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The incident happened on Monday afternoon when Qatari fighter planes intercepted two UAE civilian planes bound for Bahrain's capital Manama.
The action constitutes a threat to the safety of civil aviation and violates relevant international laws and conventions, it said.
In June last year, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt severed ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism and interference in their affairs. Doha has repeatedly denied all the charges.
