WARSAW, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Polish President Andrzej Duda Wednesday morning appointed Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski as the new Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Ardanowski replaced Krzysztof Jurgiel, who resigned from the post due to personal reasons on Monday.
The new minister is supposed to come with a package of solutions to reduce the negative effects of drought which has struck Poland recently.
Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski was born in 1961 in Czernikowo and graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Technology and Agriculture in Bydgoszcz.
From November 2005 to January 2008, he performed the function of Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. He also served as an advisor to then president Lech Kaczynski. Until now, he's been serving as vice-chairman of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee in Polish Sejm (lower house of the parliament).?
